There Would be Jurisdictional Issues Anyway

A judge tosses a suit on a technicality.

A US judge has thrown out a case against God, ruling that because the defendant has no address, legal papers cannot be served.

The suit didn't pull any punches.

Mr Chambers sued God last year. He said God had threatened him and the people of Nebraska and had inflicted "widespread death, destruction and terrorisation of millions upon millions of the Earth's inhabitants".

The court, Mr Chambers said, had acknowledged the existence of God and "a consequence of that acknowledgement is a recognition of God's omniscience".

"Since God knows everything," he reasoned, "God has notice of this lawsuit."

Ernie Chambers strikes me as one of those people who has made a career out of getting attention. His heart seems to be in the right place a lot of the time, but, well, he's a nut.

dale, I once saw a biography of him on Nebraska Public TV when I lived in SE South Dakota. He is a nut, but you would have to be crazy to swim against the current for as long as he has (a black activist in Nebraska?)

I'm not sure I agree that the court acknowledged the existence of God. It just said that there's no way to serve the court order. I wish some other nut would come forward claiming to be God and contest the lawsuit. That would be entertaining.
